Round two in Shanghai saw Ferrari continue its consistent start to 2026, securing another double points finish while chasing the early dominance of Mercedes.
The second race of the 2026 Formula 1 season at the Shanghai International Circuit reinforced an emerging narrative, Scuderia Ferrari is competitive, consistent, and firmly in the fight, but still searching for that final step to victory.
Ferrari once again delivered a strong double points result, with Lewis Hamilton leading the team home in third place, followed by Charles Leclerc in fourth. The result mirrors their performance from the season opener, highlighting a reliable and balanced package across both drivers.
Hamilton’s podium marked an important milestone early in the season. His growing comfort within the Ferrari team was evident, executing a clean and composed race to secure his first podium in red. Leclerc, meanwhile, maintained strong pace throughout but was unable to move further up the order, settling just behind his teammate.
Up front, Kimi Antonelli claimed victory for Mercedes, with teammate George Russell completing a dominant one-two finish. Mercedes has clearly emerged as the early benchmark, setting a high bar for Ferrari and the rest of the grid.
Despite not yet reaching the top step, Ferrari’s back-to-back podium presence and consistent top-four finishes signal a team firmly in contention. The gap to Mercedes remains, but the foundation is strong, and with continued development, Ferrari looks poised to convert consistency into race-winning pace.
Two races in, the message is clear: Ferrari is in the fight, and the momentum is building.
